Learning the Night Sky and Stargazing at Mt. Stromlo with Dr. Brad Tucker and Matt Dodds

Don’t want CONASTA 69 to end? If you have ever wanted to learn how to explore the night sky and find interesting objects with a telescope this is your chance! Come along to Mt.Stromlo Observatory (transport provided) to join an interactive workshop on how to explore the night sky and find interesting celestial objects to share with your students using Stellarium. We will then proceed outside to where we will have a collection of telescopes ready for you to get to know and use. Astrophysicist Dr Brad Tucker and ASTRO 3D education affiliate and physics teacher, Matt Dodds will be on hand to guide you to various objects in the night sky and teach you how to easily find them again so that you can share them with your students.

  • Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and warm, delicious snacks will keep you fuelled!
  • Please bring: Laptop, warm clothes i.e. jacket, beanie, scarf, gloves and a head torch with red light (optional)
