Back To Science Fair Home Page

No matter your interest in STEM and the topic you have selected for your inquiry project, your project can help to solve every day problems that require STEM solutions.  Before submitting your project, you must determine which is the most suitable category from this list.

Next, choose the approach you wish to take when undertaking your project.

Scientific Investigations

Using this framework, students develop their scientific investigation skills as they work scientifically to test their hypothesis through controlled experiments. This includes

  • Problem solving
  • Questioning and predicting
  • Conducting investigations
  • Processing and analysing data and information
  • Communicating

Technological Innovations

This engineering design approach is for young inventors who enjoy tinkering to develop a brilliant idea and who has built a working model or prototype, or perhaps coded a novel piece of software, showing how their ideas work.  The processes involved in working technologically include:

  • Identifying a need or a problem
  • Generating ideas and research
  • Planning an  innovative device or use of materials
  • Constructing a working model
  • Producing a solution or prototype
  • Testing and evaluating
